The companion
Meet ALPHA.
The visible form
of a larger idea.
An ivory shell. A black face. Two amber eyes. A consistent presence for an intelligence being built around continuity.

01 — Presence
Interface direction
A way to communicate
without another window.
The character is intended to become an interface: a consistent form that can communicate attention, activity and uncertainty with a small vocabulary of light and motion.
Here, its greeting and pointer response are scripted visual behaviors. They demonstrate the character’s motion, rather than a live connection to ALPHA’s engine.

02 — Expression
Two eyes.
A restrained vocabulary.
Small changes in focus, luminance and posture give the form a sense of attention. The neutral vertical eyes remain the anchor.
The interaction study uses a damped gaze, subtle breathing and an occasional blink. It does not infer emotion or understanding.

One identity.
Across working environments.
The longer-term aim is a companion whose working context can continue across devices. Native Mac and Windows builds and a paired-worker protocol exist; a seamless companion experience across devices does not.
Connecting the character to meaningful engine states is part of that work. Its behavior should reflect what the system is actually doing, including its limits.
